This is a rare *isho-tansu* (clothing chest) from the Taisho era, crafted using the traditional techniques of Hida-Takayama. Although there is some deterioration in the finish, the passage of time has enhanced the natural wood grain?characteristic of *Shunkei-nuri* lacquerware?giving it a rich, exquisite patina. The contrast between the elegant vermilion lacquer and the refined iron fittings creates a sophisticated Japanese aesthetic. Please note that the key is missing.
