Its seven functionally arranged drawers and rugged, hand-forged iron fittings?designed for security and durability?convey the unpretentious, robust aesthetic beauty characteristic of the Edo era. Having survived for centuries, the wood surface has developed a deep, lustrous black sheen, exuding an overwhelming presence. Built to withstand the rigors of travel, its sturdy construction remains remarkably solid to this day.
