This is a top-tier, two-tiered clothing chest of commanding presence, crafted in the Yonezawa region of Yamagata Prefecture in 1920 (Taisho 9). Its most captivating feature lies in the exquisitely detailed metal fittings designed with the motif of the *ageha-cho* (swallowtail butterfly). From the striking central lock plate to the drawer pulls and the corner reinforcements, the piece is adorned throughout with beautiful swallowtail butterfly patterns?a motif long cherished by the aristocracy and samurai class as a symbol of flourishing descendants and eternal life. Even after more than a century, the spirit and superb craftsmanship of the original artisans remain palpable, giving the piece a dignified air worthy of a museum collection.
