Nihonmatsu Tansu, made in the Nihonmatsu region of Fukushima Prefecture, is a high-end chest of drawers that enjoys extremely high status among fans of Japanese antiques, alongside Sendai Tansu and Shonai Tansu. The greatest symbol of Nihonmatsu Tansu, and what sets it apart from other regional chests, is the "brass fittings" that adorn the front. Auspicious designs of the moon and swallowtail butterfly are meticulously carved by skilled craftsmen. Over many years, the characteristic shine of brass has faded, and the texture has matured into a deep, exquisite "antique gold," exuding a breathtaking elegance and presence.
