This deep bowl-shaped Jomon pottery vessel is believed to have been excavated in Aomori Prefecture between 4,000 and 5,000 years ago, dating from the middle Jomon period. It was reconstructed by gluing together pieces excavated in a single batch. Its large size and striking presence are astounding when displayed. It would look great with a flower arrangement. The Jomon period is divided into six periods based on pottery characteristics, including the incipient, early, early, middle, late, and final periods. These periods represent the overall flow of the Jomon period, which lasted from approximately 16,000 years ago to approximately 2,400 years ago. Deep bowl-shaped pottery vessels were produced in the middle to late Jomon period, and are deep, bowl-shaped vessels whose height exceeds their width. They were primarily used for cooking, storage, and burial purposes. Many of these vessels are decorated with rope patterns, three-dimensional clay patterns, and multiple handles, and their characteristics vary depending on the culture and era.
