Antique folk craftsmanship: Old lanterns (gando) from the Taisho to early Showa periods. A "gando" is a portable lighting device, similar to a modern-day flashlight. Invented during the Edo period, it features a rotating candle holder inside a bell-shaped frame made of wood or metal, ensuring the candle always stands upright, regardless of the angle. Because it only illuminates the front, it was also called a "robber's lantern" (gotou chochin). While used alongside lanterns, this rare folk craft disappeared around the time flashlights became common. Please check the images and videos for signs of deterioration. (¡ý [Note] ¡ Items larger than K size cannot be delivered via "household goods delivery" on Tuesdays. ¢ Items larger than 220 and H size cannot be delivered to some remote islands.)
