Mogami chests are traditional Japanese chests made in the Mogami region of Yamagata Prefecture. They are particularly distinctive for their three-dimensional metal fittings, which resemble peonies. Their impressive appearance also gives them the nickname "hammered peony." Each piece is individually hammered by artisans, making them worthy of being called a work of art.
