Showa Retro Folding Square Chabudai from the 1940s and 50s. The Chabudai was a fixture in almost every Showa era home. In the Showa era, families were large given the amount of space available, and the living room and bedroom were often combined. When everyone ate together, the Chabudai would be prepared, folded up and put away, and the futon laid out. Nowadays, the Chabudai is also at risk of extinction.
