【商品説明】超希少!元春日野理事長 横綱 栃錦が若手時代の行李 昭和前期。 栃錦は戦後の相撲黄金時代の立役者となったのが、第４４代横綱栃錦。小さな体ながら大男を多彩な技で撃破するその戦いぶりは、戦後の閉塞感を一掃し、日本人を元気づけた。１９２５（大正１４）年、現在の東京都江戸川区に生まれる。小さな時から運動神経は抜群。地元では相撲も強かったため、春日野部屋に入門し、１９３９（昭和１４）年の１月場所で初土俵を踏む。しかし、力士としては軽量で身長も１７８センチと大きくなかった。そのため周囲からの期待も薄く、駆け出しの頃は戦績もよくなかったが、体格を補うために多くの技を習得し、いつしか「技の展覧会」と評されるようになる。戦後に制定された技能賞では常連となり、「技能賞は栃錦のためにある」といわれた。 １９４４年に十両に昇進したが、同時期に徴兵され、終戦まで軍隊生活を送る。戦後、旧両国国技館に戻ってきた栃錦は勝ち星を重ねて１９５２年に大関に昇進。そして１９５４年、通算３度目の優勝を果たし、第４４代横綱の座に就いた。現品は戦前の若手時代に使われていたと思われる巡業用の行李。側面に補修痕あり。

Extremely rare! Former Kasugano Chairman Yokozuna Tochinishiki's suitcase from his youth, early Showa period. Tochinishiki was the 44th Yokozuna Tochinishiki, who played a key role in the postwar golden age of sumo. Despite his small physique, his fighting style, in which he defeated larger men with a variety of techniques, wiped out the sense of stagnation that followed the war and cheered up the Japanese people. He was born in 1925 (Taisho 14) in what is now Edogawa Ward, Tokyo. From a young age, he had outstanding athletic ability. As sumo was also strong in his hometown, he entered the Kasugano stable and made his debut in the January tournament of 1939 (Showa 14). However, he was light for a sumo wrestler and only 178 cm tall. As a result, those around him had low expectations of him, and his performance in his early days was not good, but he learned many techniques to make up for his lack of physique, and before long he was described as an "exhibition of techniques." He became a regular at the Technique Awards that were established after the war, and it was said that "the Technique Award was made for Tochinishiki." He was promoted to Juryo in 1944, but was drafted at the same time, serving in the military until the end of the war. After the war, Tochinishiki returned to the old Ry?goku Kokugikan, won a string of matches, and was promoted to Ozeki in 1952. In 1954, he won his third championship and became the 44th Yokozuna. The actual item is a touring suitcase that is thought to have been used by him as a young wrestler before the war. There are repair marks on the side.
